Privacy request letter
Privacy laws let you tell a company to delete your data, show you what it has, or stop selling it. Pick your situation and we'll write the letter — with the date they have to answer by.
Stays on this device. The letter is written in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to TrueID or saved.
Live in California?
One free request can reach 600+ data brokers at once.
The state's official DROP service (Delete Request and Opt-out Platform) sends a single deletion request to every registered data broker. Since August 1, 2026 brokers must check it at least every 45 days.
Run by the California Privacy Protection Agency. TrueID isn't affiliated with it.
Your letter
Send it today and the law gives them 45 days: an answer is due by December 2, 2026 (or January 16, 2027 if they tell you they need the one extension allowed).
How to send it
- Find the company's privacy contact — usually in its privacy policy, under “Your rights” or “Contact us”. Many have a web form instead of an email address; paste the letter into the form.
- Send it from the email address you put in the letter, and keep a copy.
- Note the date. If there's no answer by the due date, send it again and mention the first one. You can also complain to your state attorney general (or, in the EU/UK, your data protection authority).

Not every company has to honor every request — it depends on where you live and the company's size and business. This is a template for information, not legal advice.
